A Barber's shop was bulldozered and Barber Yusuf was arrested after footage of him applying spit to a customer's face was made available to the authorities.
In the video, the Barber is seen spitting on his hand and then rubbing the spit on the customer's face. It does not seem like the customer is aware of what type of fluid is being used in his face.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand said, "We received a report regarding a video in which a barber, Yusuf, was seen applying his spit on the face of a customer. Acting on the complaint we arrested him on Wednesday night."
The situation has sparked debate in the barbering community.
While most people agree that Barber Yusuf made a disturbing decision when he rubbed spit on his client's face, there are divided opinions regarding the consequences. With some barbers expressing that the punishment was too severe and a fine or loss of license would have been more appropriate than arrest.
Others claim that the barber had it coming when he chose to abuse his customer's trust with his disgusting actions. Saliva is certainly not the type of moisturizing technique client's are looking for at the Barber's Shop.
Did the authorities take it too far? Or is the punishment appropriate considering that forcing bodily fluids on another man without his consent can be viewed as a form of abuse?
